Mirror Mirror On the Wall...

And this is my How Who When and Why of it.


There are people(or things) called Unknowns. These are beings that can use magic. They're called Unknowns because normal people don't know half about them. Where they came from, who they are, why they can use magic, if they're even human, etc.
In the early 16 hundreds, an Unknown made a mirror. THE mirror. It's basically a volt full of all of the last remaining magically items, spell books, magic/mythical creators and beings, potion books, etc, left on earth. The place is huge.
Now, what happens, is that the mirror will choose an Unknown to protect and use all of these things for the good of King and country.
The Unknown is not obligated to obey the King, but he is commanded to serve him to the best of his abilities, so then it the ruling Royal is evil, then the country won't fall completely.
If anyone manages to get into the mirror they'll die because they can't get out. The Unknown can travel anywhere in the mirror with a thought.
There is a door in the very back of the mirror which, with the password, leads to another door that shows you a riddle. In order to go through the door you must answer it. Once answered the door will open to show you the Book of History, the largest collection of history, magic and other whys, ever to have existed. With a thought, the book can show you the history of any time and place, of one particular person, and of worlds that have yet to be explored.
But there is another door. Answer the riddle of this one and you will find the Book of Spells, the biggest and most masterful spell book in all of time.
The third door will, riddle answered, lead you to the Book of Potions, again the largest of it's kind.
These three books are often called the Three Brothers, after the Norse Gods Odin, Vili and Vé.
It is said that Vé made the Book of History because he gave humans speech, hearing and sight, as well as appearance and facial expression.
Vili gave humans wit, or intelligence, and the sense of touch. For this, rumors are that he made the Book of Potions.
Odin gave the humans soul and life, and people say that he created the Book of Spells.
The Unknown will only know the password for the first door if your need is great and there is no other sane way to solve the  problem.
The reason why the Three are placed as they are is because while spells and potions give you power that can be misused easily, you can learn from history not to make the same mistakes. That is why Vé's Book is first.
Odin's Book of Spells does not, while great, give the wielder as much power as Vili's Potion Book does, and so, being the less likely to be used, is put last, out of reach from greedy hands.

Oh, yeah, your wondering how I know the password for the first door because you can only know it when there is no other choice but to use the Three Brothers.

Over the years Unknowns have forgotten about their heritage and think themselves normal humans, which they aren't, obviously.
Unknowns can only use magic after someone has used magic on them or around them... then their own power can be used.
Unknowns instinctively know how to use magic, but cannot preform greater works until they learn how to control it better. Unknows first used spells and potions to help train younger ones, but as the years went by, they forgot that they didn't need them and grew to believe that they needed the. Spells were first used to teach the Unknown how to focus and shape their magic to do the thing that they intended. A skilled Unknown does not need to use spells or potions, but as I said, these have not been seen for decades.
Once chosen by the mirror, the Unknown is invisible to all who look except if they say a special poem that anyone, with or without magic magic, can activate. Once said, the speaker can see and to an extent, hear the Unknown.
Unknowns chosen by the mirror are commonly called the Occupant by those who know of their existence.


That's that. I have another scene... but I need to do dishes... tell me what you think of this, will you please? I'll kill you in your sleep!!!
And by that I mean not in some horrible gruesomely grotesque way that I will devise for you personally. :)
